The A-B Tech Foundation, Mission and Donor

The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law. At the end of fiscal year 2004-2005, the Foundation had assets totaling over 2 million. In FY 2005-2006, the Foundation has awarded 70 scholarships, totaling nearly $85,000. 

Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to support Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in all of its programs and activities to ensure that quality educational opportunities are available to its students, faculty and staff.

Goals

Scholarships: Tuition has increased 59% in the past five years, making the need for financial assistance greater.

Technology: Students, faculty and staff must have access to the industry standard technology and equipment to continue providing quality training.

 Professional Development: Professional development activities enhance our instructors’ teaching skills by providing current information on industry trends.

 Renovation and Expansion: Our curriculum enrollment has increased 8% since 2001, making it necessary to build new facilities and to renovate others to state-of-the-art condition.

The Virya Fund for Construction Management Technology

This fund was established in April 2009 for the purpose of creating, preparing and conserving to be sustainable in the future.  To achieve this, the fund is designated for the goal of training students in the sciences of construction through the use of live projects and by any other means available.  The fund is open to private and public contributions of all types.

green-building7A-B Tech Construction Science is Asheville’s own green building school. Choose our training programs in carpentry, construction management or cabinetry, or all of the above, and receive a comprehensive education in all aspects of the building trade, with a focus on green and sustainable techniques and innovations. Put these techniques into practice every semester with our student Projects in Sustainability, which can include solar installation, earthen/cob building, and the latest energy efficient framing and insulating materials and methods.   

At the end of our program, earn respected credentials, or transfer your credits to a school of your choice across the country.
